Drivers: Patrick Depailler / Jacques Laffite From first grand prix on the 1979 world championship, the LSGIER-GITANES team entered two new cars, JS 11's with FORD-COSWORTH engines. Car n°26 was driven by Jacques LAFFITE and n°25 by Patrick DEPAILLER. The blue of the french cars totally dominated the pole position for the first part of the season, and the drivers were awarded with several podium appearances. The team taked a good option for the world championship but encountered the FERRARIs and the lightning advance of the WILLIAMS team in the second part of the season. The LIGIER-GITANES team nevertheless finished the season in the third place of the world championship with 61 points and three victories. |
