Revell-Monogram 1/25 Ford GT
Monogram #565 - $20.00
From conception, the Ford GT took 12 months to complete at the Lola factory in England. White dark blue striping and a matt blue hood with a white number disc, the GT was wind tunnel tested and its wheel angles were figured by a computer. The first Ford GT prototype was sent to New York for a press showing in early April 1664, and then back to France for the Le Mans time trials on the 18th and the 19th of April.
Most of the work on the GT was done at the Lola Company in England under a three-man team comprised of Eric Browdley, project manager, Roy Lunn and John Wyer. Everyone working on the GT project expected the GT to win first time out, except Roy Lunn. Taking a more realistic approach. Lunn's desire was for the cars to show potential and then win in 1965. His ambition was fully realized. The potential of the GT is amazing, particularly since none of the cars developed any sort of engine trouble and roadability was excellent. Once they manage to get the kinks out of the transmission the GT will be a formidable opponent against the Ferrari.
