Jim Clark: Tribute to a Champion
Item #J823 - $34.95
A book celebrating the life and achievements of Jim Clark was prompted by anniversaries falling in the 1990's. The middle 1960s represented the peak of Clark's career. He regained the world driver's championship, won the Indianapolis 500, and scored the first historic victory for the Lotus-Ford 49 at Zandvoort on 4 June, 1967. Eric dymock observed his career from the beginning in Scotland, then as a member of The Motor staff from 1962, and motor racing correspondant of The Guardian from 1996. This book details Clark's sporting career, his place in the history of motor racing, and takes a fresh look at his mastery of the sport. It is a portrait of him as an individual, for there was something about Clark that, as an earlier biographer Graham Gauld put it, won him friends throughout his ascent to fame and lost him scarcely any.

This biography looks beyond Clark's brilliant motorsport career and offer fascinating new information about his farming background, his Scotish heritage, and the man behind the clean-cut boyish image. Illustrated with specially commissioned color photographs, Ford archive material, and pictures from the from the Clark family's personal collection.
